about

Dr.Nojoke’s forthcoming conceptual album ‘Reconstructed Electric Bass-Guitar’ explores transformation through deconstruction of traditional instruments. Shape shifting waveforms, taken out of their context, processed and re-orchestrated into drones, glitchy electronics and low frequency pulsations. Ethereal yet dynamic arrangements and meditative soundscapes evoke modern alchemy through sound as an art form driven by never ending mutation.
- Words by Franco Bellavita

Dr.Nojoke:
"Reconstructed Electric Bass-Guitar is an exploration of the instrument´s waveform through recording, transformation, modulation and digital processing. The electric bass-guitar is a standard instrument in rock, pop and jazz music. Reconstructed takes the instrument out of its traditional role and context to create a new music focusing on the instrument solely.
This music project started with a performance once at an UNOIKI exhibition in Berlin in 2012, I guess, where I just used my electric bass-guitar and Ableton live to create sounds.
Years later I found it again and used the recorded material to form six composed tracks.
In 2017 I met Philip Steger at Club der Visionaere proposing it for Abandoned Audio. I added a few more tracks composed from the same source to create a full-length album."
